The suicide myth persists
Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States, especially for teenagers and young adults. The risk of attempting suicide is even higher among L.G.B.T.Q. young people because of stigma and discrimination.
This is from a NY Times op-ed, published on July 2. It was written by the journalist Jason Cherkis, who seems to have never heard the phrase “correlation does not equal causation.” According to his Times bio, he’s working on a book about suicide.
Wonderful. So now there’ll be an entire book containing dangerous misinformation about suicide.
